Art Club
Orange Chair Art Club is a joyful after-school art program for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade, located in the heart of North Capitol Hill in Seattle.
At Orange Chair, we believe every child is an artist. Our studio is a warm, welcoming space where creativity is encouraged, curiosity is celebrated, and imagination has room to grow. We provide a nurturing environment where young artists can explore a wide range of materials and techniques—from painting and drawing to mixed media—while building confidence and self-expression along the way.
Our programs are thoughtfully designed to support each child’s developmental stage, allowing Kindergarteners through 8th graders to experiment, create, and discover at their own pace. We focus on process over perfection, helping students develop creative problem-solving skills, resilience, and pride in their work.
Design Lab
Orange Chair Design Lab classes teach the philosophy that design is a powerful tool for impact. Guided by our tagline, “students designing for good,” our program teaches students in grades 4-8th the fundamentals of graphic design while giving them meaningful opportunities to apply their skills in the real world. Students learn core principles like typography, layout, color theory, branding, and visual storytelling as they design across a variety of mediums—including posters, stickers, T-shirts, and other marketing swag. Adult classes are also available.
What makes Orange Chair Design Lab unique is our partnership with nonprofit organizations. Students collaborate on marketing materials for real-world clients, gaining hands-on experience that builds both confidence and a professional-quality portfolio. These projects allow young designers to see how their creativity can support causes that matter—while developing practical skills in communication, collaboration, and client-based work.
Students designing for nonprofit clients have an opportunity to earn volunteer hour credit, making their creative contributions even more meaningful. At Orange Chair, students don’t just learn how to design—they learn how to use design to make a difference.
